Ani Choying Drolma was born to Tibetan refugee parents in Kathmandu. Her childhood was marked by hardship and adversity, particularly due to her father’s abusive behavior. Despite these challenges, she found solace in spirituality and music. At the age of 13, she joined the Nagi Gompa, a Buddhist nunnery located on the outskirts of Kathmandu, where she was ordained as a nun under the guidance of Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche, a revered Tibetan Buddhist master.
